Hub-Steering creates SAFER handling:
Hub steering is a big part of the Asteroid Cargo Bike design. Why? Cargo Bikes have an inherent wobble, due to the conventional fork. "Hub-Steering" hubs do not wobble, making them ideal for Cargo Bikes.
Hub steering allows the front wheel to be closer to the load, making a shorter wheelbase, which helps with steering and handling.
NO DERAILEUR NEEDED.
The Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit or MGU is a high-power electric bicycle motor with no need for a secondary gear system. That's correct NO need for a derailleur, meaning less drivetrain maintenance. This also means that Asteroid can run Gates Carbondrive Belts.

If the cycling industry of today started the development of (electric) bicycle shifting systems from scratch, most would entirely forgo an exposed and vulnerable derailleur-style system from the get-go. Thanks to the functional principles and housed construction, a gearbox offers more reliable shifting than traditional bicycle drivetrains and is far better equipped to handle the stress of an e-bike motor.

The Pinion E-Drive system offers 4 support levels:
- Eco is designed for maximum range.
- Flow is more adaptive than Eco, adapting to the terrain.
- Flex is a dynamic, but still allows to conserve battery power.
- Fly lets the rider fully call on the enormous power when needed.
- There is also a Walk Assist & Start Assist ideal for Cargo bikes
10,000 KM MAINTENANCE FREE
The Pinion MGU system is contained in a closed and sealed housing that keeps dust, mud and water out, cleaning and maintaining the bike is enormously easy, especially when equipped with Gates Carbondrive belt-drive that doesn’t need to be greased or lubricated.
AGAIN, not NEED for a derailleur, the rear wheel is a simple single-speed hub, allowing for wider flanges and stronger a wheel.
The Pinion E-Drive System is therefore extremely durable whilst wear on the drive system is extremely low due to the elimination of external shifting components. The maintenance interval? A 10-minute oil-change after 10,000 km.
SIMPLE APP DISPLAY
The unique FIT Key Card is the entry ticket into the digital world of any Pinion-powered ebike. Combined with the FIT E-Bike Control App, for example, the displays can be used to plan or show routes and directions via Komoot.
In addition to offering the option to adjust and fine-tune functions and values like power output, power onset, power delivery and all Smart.Shift functions, the app also offers easy and clear explanations to guide the user in the tuning process.

BMX bikes are small and compact, ideal for storing in your hallway. This BMX Commuter frame can carry heavy loads and will fit the rear rack from the 20inch wheel Cargo Bike.
MTB
Mountain bikes are comfortable and work well as a workhorse. Why? Fat tyres give the rider some comfort and with an electric motor there is not an issue of drag. This is perfect for work and weekends, being able to carry large loads.

Adventure
Asteroid Bicycles have developed this model for the Million Mile Mission. Using 26-inch mountain bike (MTB) wheels on a hub steering cargo bike offers several benefits. The larger wheels provide better performance on rougher terrains, offering a smoother ride and higher load capacity.
Work
With 20-inch front and 26-inch wheels back. Asteroid Work uses the 20inch front frame platform from the Family model and the rear 26inch wheel frame from the Adventure model. This 20-26 wheel combination is the format that commercial couriers prefer for all day riding comfort.

With 20-inch wheels front and back.

Asteroid Impact
Public right of ways (bridleways and byways) are often surrounded by hedge rows and are a natural corridor for wildlife. Bridleways and byways need preservation as they act as natures corridors. For Every cargo bike sold Asteroid will contribute 5% to a "Public right of way Regeneration Fund" to help with the replanting of native trees, creating more nesting environments for British birds. This regeneration fund will also improve and extend this network.
