Our story.
Asteroid Bicycles is a British brand that is challenging the road of eMobility.  From the start, Asteroid wanted to create an exciting Cargo Bike to encourage last mile deliveries.  However  Cargo Bike adoption, in the UK, well behind the rest of Europe.  Asteroid Bicycles looked for some design solutions to resolve these barriers to the UK market.

Asteroid has created a series of innovative features, allowing Asteroid Cargo Bikes to be used in 3 key areas. Family. Work & Adventure.  These are not just lifestyle markets, Asteroid's design philosophy has lead to the modular and innovative design which allows your Cargo Bike to be changed or upgraded, as your lifestyle changes.

Front-loader or Long-tail and what is a Rear-loader?
Cargo bikes come as either "long-tails" or "front-loaders". Families normally choose "long-tails" as they look easy to ride with their rear load.  However the load on the back makes the front tyre lift, loosing grip.  This rear weight shift makes long-tails unpredictable in the wet.  Front-Loaders are a lot safer, however they produce a wobble when starting, putting people off with a wobbly first impression.

Why Asteroids?
Asteroid Bicycles has developed its own patent pending, Hub steering to give the cargo ride, less wobble and more stability, allowing loads to be placed either side and above the front wheel.  Asteroid have reengineered the Cargo Bike Front-loader format with 4 other innovative design lead solutions.  Asteroid has combined features that other brands don't offer:

• Hub Steering – creating a lower front platform and shorter overall bike.  
• Split Frame - the frame can be separated for storage or taking on transport. 
• 2 wheel modular design - both the 20inch and 26inch tyre formats can be mixed and matched.  
• Steering de-couples without any special tools.
•  Universal mid-motor mount.  This allows the customer to upgrade or repurpose the frame without being locked into one motor brand.

All of these design innovations make for a better handling, more versatile Cargo Bike, resolving storage and increasing the product life-cycle.
