Asteroid design
Cargo Bikes have evolved from analogue, human powered, bicycles which have been adapted by bicycle brands and frame builders. Electric Cargo Bikes have changed the ability to carry a heavy load by bicycle, using mid-powered e-motors and derailleur or hub gears. Asteroid took it further, engineering innovative solutions to steering and frame design.
Cargo bikes come as either "long-tails" or "front-loaders". Both of these formats are long and have difficult handling, compared to a normal bicycle. Asteroid have developed our own hub steering system and modular split frame. Hub Steering makes handling easier and the modular split frame makes the bikes more versatile.
Asteroid have partnered with Intra-Drive adopting the GD8 electric drivetrain with no need for a derailleur or hub gears. This allows Intra-Drive to provide 95Nm or torque & 600W peak power.
Combining human with electric power creates a low maintenance, high power drivetrain with and no pollutants. Consider quick, easy rides that make everyday cycling accessible to people of all fitness levels. Being practically silent increases your respect for your surroundings, whether they are other hikers, wild animals, or even your neighbours.
Change the way you want
Our lives change. Children grow, we get a dog etc. Asteroid can be changed to suit your lifestyle and have developed 3 formats for Family, work and Adventure.

Family
Asteroid Metro Cross or AMX, is a 20inch (BMX format) wheeled Cargo bike for around the city. 20-inch wheels on cargo bikes offers several benefits, including improved manoeuvrability for navigating tight spaces and a lower centre of gravity for better stability and handling when carrying heavy loads. BMX wheels are designed for high-impact use, making them strong and durable for cargo transport. The smaller wheel size also reduces the bike's overall weight, making it easier to handle and transport. The lower profile facilitates easier loading and unloading of cargo and is ideal for the school run.

Adventure
Asteroid Terrain Bike or ATB uses the old mountain bike format of 26inch for its wheels. Using 26-inch mountain bike (MTB) wheels on a hub steering cargo bike offers several benefits. The larger wheels provide better performance on various terrains, offering a smoother ride and higher load capacity. They also improve comfort and increase ground clearance for navigating obstacles. Additionally, 26-inch wheels provide enhanced rolling efficiency, making the bike more effective for long-distance riding. This combination enhances the cargo bike's stability and versatility for transporting goods, making it ideal for families wanting a sports utility vehicle in the weekend and a solid multi purpose work horse during the week.

Work
Asteroid Work or AWK uses the 20inch front from the AMX and the rear 26inch from the ATB. Combined this is the format that commercial couriers prefer. The best of both worlds.

Smoother ride
Hub steering is a big part of the Asteroid Cargo Bike design. Why? Hub steering allows the front wheel to be closer to the load, making a shorter wheelbase, which helps with steering and handling. Cargo Bikes have an inherent wobble, due to the conventional fork. "Hub-Steering" hubs do not wobble, making them ideal for Cargo Bikes.

Split Travel:
Travel further, make it an adventure. Cargo Bikes are long and difficult to store securely and transport. Asteroid Cargo Bikes have a Modular "Split-Frame" design allowing you to split the frame down for transporting on a train or plane? or just cycle it all the way, following everything from old rail trails, ghost towns from a forgotten era, or journey through landscapes around the world.
